Well, here it is folks… the puzzle is complete!
We were commissioned to construct a one-of-a-kind bedroom suite complete with tallboys, dresser, bedside tables and mirror. The finished product makes a bold statement! But as with all our work, it’s the little details that set it apart.
The tallboys, dresser and bedsides are constructed from character laden champhor laurel. Black resin has been used to fill any irregularities in the surface of the timber, complementing the charred face frames. The bottoms of all drawer fronts feature live edges, while the drawer tops are easy to grip with chamfered edges. And as always, we favour the use of quality Blum soft-close drawer slides.
But the icing on the cake would have to be that mirror! Measuring 880mm in diameter, the frame is made from charred oak, includes lacy Lichtenberg burns and has been burnished with a wire brush to a glossy finish that feels like velvet to the touch.
The complete suite has now been finished and is waiting to be delivered… if only we can bring ourselves to part with that mirror!
