The Final Piece of the Puzzle

We keep all of our off cuts to be made into new designs and here is the final design made from the off cuts of my desk.

As we start with a natural piece of timber we have to work out how to best utilise all of the timber when we create a design. Previously I was able to make four pairs of earrings and two bangles from the power board cut outs of my desk, but here is one of the bigger offcuts from my drawers, and it is one of my favourites.

Yes, it's a serving platter. I love how prominent the transparency of the smoke resin in this platter, it allows you to see into the natural edge of the timber. The handles are solid and sturdy and it has a beautiful chamfer on the edges. Its slightly smaller than our usual platters, but still a great size for your wine and cheese. I wonder if Justin will notice if I sneak it into my private collection of pretties...
