This is a commissioned Camphor Laurel desk, designed around how it would be used day to day.
The client requested a specific desk depth and a deep purple resin fill, with the aim of creating something functional but still full of character. Once the slab was selected, we suggested going longer than originally planned — the timber had the length, and it made sense to utilise the whole piece rather than cut it back.
After sanding, the natural voids and features were opened up and ready for resin. The deep purple fill adds contrast while still letting the warmth and grain of the Camphor Laurel shine through.
Next up: finishing and final assembly.
