This floating shelf started as a slab of spotted gum — cut, prepared, and then transformed using the Lichtenberg burning technique. High-voltage electricity creates branching channels across the grain, leaving behind a natural, lightning-like pattern.
Those channels were then filled with a gunmetal metallic resin, sanded smooth, and polished to bring out the depth and detail in both timber and resin.
It’s a process that mixes science, craftsmanship, and patience — and the end result is always a one-of-a-kind piece.
